Metamorphosis Words
1.) aggressor (noun)-some one who attacks
After a war begins, it can be hard to tell which army was the aggressor.

2.) ardor (noun)- great devotion, eagerness, or enthusiasm
She decided to become an English major because she possesses strong ardor for British and American Literature.

3.) blandishments (noun)-something, as an action or speech, that tends to flatter, coax, entice, etc.
Hamlet's blandishments left Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in a daze.

4.) discourtesy (noun)- a discourteous, rude, impolite act.
The discourtesy you showed the substitute teacher is completely unacceptable.

5.) grueling (adj) -exhausting; very tiring; arduously severe
The football game was very grueling for the players who tried very hard making it a close game until the end.

6.) implicit (adj) -implied, rather than expressly stated
The directions to my new high school were implicit and confusing because they were not percise.

7.) incessant (adj)- adjective- continuing without interruption; ceaseless; unending
The incessant public speaker always gave good speeches because he never got distacted or interrupted.

8.) indispensible (adj).- absolutely necessary, essential, or requisite.
The indispensible part was missing from the vehicle, causing it to malfunction.

9.) invariable (adj)-not variable; not changing or capable of being changed; static or constant.
The weather in Florida is so invariable, it's sunny everyday.
In class we continued to stare at the invariable clock, hoping the batteries would kick in.

10.) melancholy (noun)- a gloomy state of mind; depression
My mood is very melancholy when it rains outside.

11.) metamorphosis (noun)- a complete change of form, structure, or substance
For my science project, I am required to closely study the complete metamorphosis of a frog.

12.) monotony (noun) - wearisome uniformity or lack of variety, as in occupation or scenery
In order to change the monotony of his life, he planned a two week vacation to the Caribbean islands.

13.) muster (verb)- to assemble (troops, a ship's crew, etc), as for battle, display inspection, orders or discharge
We mustered the troops to fight the Iraqies after they bombed the Twin Towers.

14.) obstinancy (adj)- the trait of being difficult to handle or overcome
Math is such an obstinancy subejct, I can't stand it.

15.) premonition (noun)- a feeling of anticipation of or anxiety over a future event.
He had a vague premonition of danger.

16.) provincial (adj)- belonging or peculiar to some particular province; local.
My mom said apply to provincial colleges because she wanted me close to home.

17.) quaver (verb)- to shake tremulously; quiver or tremble
He stood there quavering with fear.

18.) repulsion (noun)- a feeling of extreme dislike.
I have an extreme repulsion towards people who think they are the greatest at anything they do.

19.) taut (Sean) adj- tightly drawn; tense; not slack; emotionally or mentally tense
My mother was so taut the day my brother went off to college because she was nervous he would get hurt.

20.) whim (noun)- an odd or capricious notion or desire; a sudden or freakish fancy
I had a sudden whim to eat icecream and pickles in the middle of the night.
